Top issues during term (6)(Taxes Budget)
City Financial Condition and Deficit Spending
The city faces a structural deficit of roughly $7.5-11 million and may need rate increases or budget cuts.
City clerk position — elected to appointed
Converting to an appointed clerk could save on election costs, per the clerk's recommendation.
2026 building permit fee update
A 2,500-square-foot home permit would rise from about $6,500 today to roughly $7,600 under the proposal; most small homeowner permits would drop by half or more.
City Manager compensation alignment
$9,252 one-time plus $1,128 a year from the General Fund.
Naming rights for city facilities
Could bring major private investment (potentially $500,000+) into facilities the city can't currently fund due to a structural deficit.
2026 Legislative Platform
The platform itself costs nothing but positions the city to chase state and federal funding for housing, infrastructure, and other needs.
